Holtane is a spectacular mountain range 1500 meters above sea level. Sørheim and Lustrafjorden. The trip is difficult and demanding, and definitely an experience you will not soon forget.
I am passing by. Bergheim and Bergheimsstølen, further up to Bergeimsnosi. There is no path from Bergheimsnosi, but the local guides show the way up past several hammer layers and peat bogs to Middagskaret.
Once you have reached this point, much of the climb is done and you walk with a fantastic view of the Lustrafjord and the surrounding mountains.
On the west side, there are steep mountain slopes 1,500 meters straight down into the fjord, in the north you can see straight into the Hurrungane, and in the east the landscape varies in rolling valleys with diverse fishing lakes and mountain marshes.
The mountainside from Holtane and down towards Sørheim is so steep that the snow does not hang on in the winter, but it is said that a laborer who lived in Bergeim in the 19th century used to walk straight down here when he carried butter from the barns to the farm. Try whoever you want.
Once you have reached the top, you can choose whether to turn around and go back the same way or whether to continue down into Kapitledalen and onto the old ravine road between Sørheim and Feigedalen .
Grandfather says that he remembers that the horses' tracks were so deep here that the hooves sank in some places, but today you have to be very skilled to find the path. From Lambamyri, however, there is a good path through the forests down to the fjord.
On this trip you must expect to be out all day. We would estimate around 12-14 hours.
