Feigedalen

Feigedalsvassdraget with Drivanefossen.

Feigedalen is the finest gateway to Jotunheimen.

Above all, Feigedalen an extraordinary nature experience. There are still paved paths and traces of cattle grazing from the farms on Bergheim , Feigum and Sørheim The stables by Feigedalsvatnet have not yet been completely reclaimed by nature, and the seals and stone barns are silent witnesses to a time when all open land was used to provide food for both two- and four-legged animals throughout the year.

No matter which route you take, you will have to walk several hours (depending on speed) to get to Feigdalen.

At Feigedalsvatnet (934 m above sea level).

Fairytale landscape at Drivanefossen along the path between Hanafossen and Feigedalsvatnet.

Feigedalen has a diversity and a variety that we haven't found elsewhere.

From the dramatic landscape by the fjord, with steep mountain sides and thundering waterfalls, it gradually opens up to a calm and fertile valley with quiet mountain bogs and numerous fishing lakes. With good shape and bad weather, you can make your way through the valley in a long day, but if you take your time here you have the opportunity to walk for many days, exploring side valleys, mountain areas and fishing lakes, without mobile coverage, and most likely without meeting other people.

These areas are shared by grazing sheep, wild reindeer and deer. Fortunately, there are few predators, but birds of prey such as eagles and ravens are common sights. Further up the valley, the vegetation thins out and you reach the high mountains. Where the valley ends, you stand at the foot of the Hurrungane, one of the most alpine and dramatic mountain areas in the country.
